Artist Statement: “Why do I find myself in an artist’s block whenever I’m in the middle of making art?”… is a question some artists repeat to themselves daily. In the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, it feels like there is no end to it—as if we are going to be stuck in-between permanently.

A lot of events can happen during a pandemic. Sometimes, we can meet new people and develop friendships. Other times we find ourselves isolated and alone in difficult situations due to our own hubris and ignorance. We may even find ourselves waking a path to survival, left to our own devices.

While it is possible for some to navigate the obstacles of the pandemic alone, others cannot and need help to survive. How to endure the pandemic may not be straightforward or even clear, but we can only hope we will eventually transition from being stuck in the middle of the pandemic, to cross over a threshold which represents the end of it. —Marshall Lewis
