Artist Statement: During dawn, everything appears to slow down before the sun rises. There is a sense of stillness during the early hours of the morning. You can hear the chirping of the birds and a few cars passing by. At this time of the day, many people are still fast asleep; others are already starting their day. Typically, streets are vacant, and stores are closed until mid-day.

Recently, I became interested in the concept of dawn. My aim was to create images that capture the quiet beauty of the early morning hours before and as the sun rises. Dawn can represent the in-between and waiting for the world to wake up from a pandemic slumber. —Keona Williams
