Artist Statement: The Unknown—scary, unexplained, but inviting and compelling. As humans we’re naturally drawn to things we don’t know, and our curiosity can lead us to some wild, wonderful things. My own curiosity often leads me to new corners of my mind—places to which I have never before ventured. Where novel ideas and concepts are discovered, or a long-lost memory awaits its re-discovery. I guess in a way my mind is an edgeland. Somewhere not entirely explored, but interesting and known about with so much to offer if one is simply curious enough to venture there.
Sometimes though, curiosity can lead to danger. We’ve all heard the phrase that curiosity killed the cat. Maybe there’s just some pretty pink goo lurking in these edgeland places? What is it, what does it do? Can we touch it? How on Earth was that colour created? It could be a strange radioactive poison, but what if it is not? What if it is something new and beautiful and you are the first person in the world to see and understand it? I suppose we can't know unless we try, will we? Welcome to The Unknown.
